Information for VisitorsThe love and support of having family and friends visit you during your hospital stay is an essential part of your healing process. You and other patients also need to be in a restful environment.
At NVRH we ask that no more than two people be with you at any one time, and that visitors are respectful of regular visiting hours and the privacy and comfort of other patients.
It is the policy of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital to comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Condition of Participation relating to patients’ visitation rights. As a patient, you have the right to choose who can visit you. To read the complete policy click on the document to the right.
Regular visiting hours for the Medical/Surgical Unit, the Birth Center and Pediatrics are generally from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Visiting hours for the Intensive Care Unit are variable. Please check with the nursing staff on the unit before visiting.
Overnight visitors are allowed when necessary for a family member to stay with a seriously ill patient. Please let the nurses know if a family member needs to stay overnight.
Hospital infection control guidelines may require visitors to follow certain precautions when visiting. NVRH is following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for visiting during the 2009/2010 flu season. Click on the "Visitors Guidelines" document on the right to read the guidelines.
Pediatric Rooming-in Policy One parent or a designated adult is allowed to room-in while a child is hospitalized. Parents are welcome to visit anytime.
Siblings are not allowed to room-in. If, however, a mother is breastfeeding, her infant may stay with her. Dietary will provide a guest tray for the rooming-in adult at meal times only.
Surgical Waiting Area The Day Surgery waiting room on the first floor in the main lobby of the hospital.
Smoking Policy For the comfort and safety of our patients, visitors, and employees NVRH is a tobacco-free hospital. There is no smoking allowed on hospital grounds. Please extinguish smoking materials before leaving your vehicle. Please do not bring smoking materials into the hospital.
