MRI

MRI- Magnetic Resonance Imaging uses a powerful magnet, radio waves and a computer (not radiation)  to create detailed thin sections of anatomy.   MRI is capable of imaging soft tissues, bones, organs,  internal structures and blood flow.  The magnet used in the scanner is 10,000 - 40,000 times greater than the earth's magnetic field.

MRI has no known health risks as long as appropriate safety guidelines are followed:
Patients must remove all metal on their body such as:  jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, watches, body piercings, hair pins

Pacemakers, metallic implants and electronic devices are not allowed in the scanner room.

A mobile unit from Alliance Imaging is on site at NVRH two days a week, every Thursday and Friday.
