Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine involves the use of radioactive pharmaceuticals for imaging and treatment.  Various organ function can be evaluated by administering the radiopharmaceutical, usually intravenously.  NVRH uses a dual-headed whole body scanner which greatly reduces scanning time for the patient when compared to a single headed gamma camera.

Radiopharmaceuticals can also be used to treat various disease processes.  Here at NVRH we are licensed to treat some cases of hyperthyroidism.

All Nuclear Medicine services are provided under the direction of  board certified radiologists. and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensed Authoried Users.  The technologists are American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board certified and licensed by the state of Vermont.
