Cardiovascular Imaging

Cardiovascular imaging involves the heart and the blood vessels of the heart.      NVRH  currently utilizes both ultrasound and nuclear medicine imaging modalities to diagnose medical conditions of the heart.   Echocardiography is an extremely safe and painless ultrasound procedure for viewing the heart in motion.

Doppler ultrasound is a special technique that evaluates the speed, direction and pressure of blood flow in blood vessels.   It is used in detecting fetal heart beat and in evaluating blood flow in the adult heart.   Different speeds of flow may be displayed in color for ease of interpretation.  Audible sounds are also helpful in the evaluation of flow.
