Pulmonary RehabilitationPulmonary Rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for people with breathing problems caused by COPD, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and other respiratory problems.
The NVRH Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is made up of classes that meet three times a week for 10 weeks. There is a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant and a respiratory therapist present for all sessions. The classes are 60 minutes of exercise. Exercise includes stretching, weight training, and stationary bikes, treadmills, and other aerobic exercise. Each week there is a 30 minute educational session.
A referral is needed from your physician to join the program. Pulmonary rehabilitation is covered by most insurances. Participants must have quit smoking or be currently enrolled in a smoking cessation program.
Classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on the third floor of the hospital. For more information call NVRH Respiratory Therapy at 802-748-7511.
