Childbirth Education Classes
NVRH offers Childbirth Education Classes throughout the year. The classes should be taken during the last three months of pregnancy. All classes are taught by certified childbirth educators.
Classes are held at the hospital either on Tuesday evenings for six weeks, or on Saturdays (full day or two half day options).
The classes explain what you can expect during labor and delivery, as well as breathing techniques and other methods of relaxation. These techniques will help you use your body more effectively in labor, help you stay comfortable, and can reduce your need for pain medication. Husbands, partners, or supportive friends or family members are welcome to attend the classes with you.
Films, diagrams, posters, and handouts are used and some resources are available for you to borrow. A tour of the NVRH Birth Center is the high point of the series, and a pediatrician or family practitioner visits the Tuesday evening series to answer questions about newborn care.
Classes are FREE OF CHARGE to patients planning to deliver at NVRH. Others may register as space allows. For more information about Childbirth Education Classes at NVRH call Doreen Brado, RNC at 748-7339 or Terry Gosselin RNC at 748-7333 or send either Doreen or Terry an email using our contact form Schedule for 2011
