The NVRH Birth Center emphasizes and encourages the strong bond between the mother and infant. Your baby will be born in a quiet, private room with a warm home-like atmosphere.
At NVRH you can share this once in a lifetime experience with a family member or support person of your choosing.
Natural childbirth is supported by the NVRH birth center. You may also choose to labor and deliver in the comfort of our special birthing tub. Ask our staff about all the pain management options available to you.
The NVRH Birth Center is currently the only Vermont hospital certified
Baby Friendly by the World Health Organization. Rooming in is encouraged for healthy newborns. Staying in the room provides an ideal setting for moms and support people to get to know their new babies and learn baby care.
Every nursing staff member in the Birth Center holds a national certification in neonatal resuscitation. Our nurses undergo an intensive annual skills review. State-of-the-art emergency equipment is available at all times.
The NVRH Birth Center offers Level I newborn care. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Fletcher Allen Health Care are referral centers for moms and babies requiring intensive medical care.
